Cole Gallery

Over a year ago, Scott Jones, a treasured staff member at Cole Gallery who formerly served on the faculty for the Portrait Society of America, started talking about the possibility of holding a figurative show.  His rich experience has connected Scott with some of America’s greatest portrait artists. He often talks about how portrait artists enjoy figurative work that tells a story, a narrative in art terms. We agreed that presenting such visual stories would be a wonderful opportunity for our community, both for local residents and for the broader circle of art aficionados who follow us from around the country.  Scott writes:

A plea from my granddaughter that I've heard over and over-- "One Story's Not Enough!" Many viewers of art that leaves them intrigued and wanting to know more would agree. This exhibition exploring stories or emotions through figurative works of art is curated with them in mind.  A glimpse of something they have seen?  Somewhere they have been? Something they want to do?  Somewhere they want to go?  The wonder of what they are thinking or dreaming of? What is that person's story?

The show comprises works by eleven highly accomplished artists with a variety of art experiences who  have accepted the invitation to paint, draw, or sculpt a story.  We hope you will enjoy the artwork.  Visit or contact the gallery, and we will enjoy spinning our own interpretations of the stories.
