Whether fascinating bird-life or gorgeous scenery, the Pacific Northwest is Amanda Houston's inspiration. Creating beauty in both oils and pastels, Amanda enjoys the relationships of color, composition and texture in her paintings. She revels in the beauty that surrounds us in the Northwest, and as an impressionist, is drawn especially to the moment when light is most dramatic. Light, caught in the iridescence of a Rufous Hummingbird, in the final rays of sunset glancing across the sky or in intense colors of summer shadows. This theme runs through her paintings in this show, and we invite you to come and see this beauty for yourself.

We are delighted to introduce Shari Lyon. Coming to us from Utah, Shari's luminous encaustic paintings capture the spirit of nature and in particular, trees. Describing her chosen medium and subject she says:

“What challenges me the most is the dichotomy between being in control of the medium and letting the medium do what it does. Trees feature heavily in my work being drawn to their symbolism, which I believe cuts across all cultures and religions. Trees are stoic, grounded, healing, and lasting, and they are a calming and meaningful subject for me. I call my pieces, not landscapes, but dreamscapes. I like to create places that bring peace, balance, and serenity into your home.”
