Many artists work out their paintings, adjusting color, composition and overall concept through studies. Sometimes they are just a quick thumbnail sketches, others are roughed out paintings and still others are smaller versions of the final piece.
If Michael Fitzpatrick is working on a new painting, you can bet that there are several studies in his studio that we think are magnificent. With some of his studies, you will notice a difference in the level of finish work going from left to right. He states, "I find that by the time I've worked out the left side, I don't need to paint as much on the right". We love them and have included them in this show.
